I haven’t been making smoothies at home for a long time, so I nearly forgot all of my recipes!
In trying to rediscover how I used to do things, I came up with a pretty good concoction.
This one has flax seeds – you’re going to want to grind that up in the blender before adding any other ingredients – otherwise your body won’t be able to digest the whole flax seeds.
Why flax seeds? According to WebMD, “There’s some evidence flax can help reduce your risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes.” Plus, I like a seedy smoothie.
- 2 tablespoons whole flax seeds
- 1.5 cups apple juice
- 0.5 cup soy milk
- 0.5 cup strawberry yogurt
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 1 cup frozen peaches
- 0.5 cup frozen blueberries
Blend the flax seeds first, then add everything else to the blender and blend.
The blueberries do a great job of cutting the tartness of the other berries.
